What is Child and Parent Psychotherapy
Child psychotherapy is a form of therapy and counselling that is focused on helping children, adolescents and their families with emotional or behavioural difficulties.
The goal of child psychotherapy is to help the child understand their feelings and behaviour, develop healthy coping skills, and improve their relationships with family and others. The therapist will use various techniques such as play therapy, art therapy, and talk therapy to help the child express themselves and work through their difficulties. It relies heavily on the therapist using the therapeutic relationship to assist the child to create meaningful moments out of previously upsetting or unsettling feelings and/or thoughts.
What is EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful psychological treatment that has been used effectively for over 30 years in a variety of international settings and cultures with many different types of psychological distress. You can learn more about it at EMDRAA website.
